The Crossings at Ewing Hosts Thanksgiving Food Drive to Support Mercer Street Friends Food Bank

Crossings Food DriveSterling Properties lent a hand to bring joy to those less fortunate this Thanksgiving when the developer hosted an annual food drive at The Crossings at Ewing rental community to benefit the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.

Leasing Manager Vickie Walters led the effort to collect non-perishable food items, canned goods and baby supplies at the Mercer County neighborhood.  Thanks to the generous residents at The Crossings at Ewing, 2017 was the most successful year to date for the charitable initiative with 704 pounds of items donated to assist the community organization in time for the Holiday.

“We believe it’s important for every member of the community to help support the neighborhood it serves,” says Ms. Walters.   “The Mercer Street Friends Food Bank plays a key role in delivering food and other necessary items to the needy in this area and we wanted to support their tireless work. We’re pleased so many of our residents agreed and dropped off food at our leasing center to assist our efforts to do something very kind for Thanksgiving.”

Located in Ewing Township, the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank is leading the community response to hunger in Mercer County.  The organization is the primary source of government and privately donated food targeted for hunger relief programs in the county. The Mercer Street Friends Food Bank channels 2.7 million pounds of food and groceries annually to a network of 80 local food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, meal sites, schools, senior and disabled programs and low-income housing sites. Its food distribution and hunger prevention programs reach over 30,000 people who face the pain and indignity of hunger.
